Welcome to Otto Men Empire’s Guild Site

Guild Policies Updated 10/20/09 by Kizs

Our old Guild Policies have vanished by an apparent server “glitch” and I did not have them backed up, grrr

As mentioned in the welcome message Otto Men Empire (aka ottomen) is for the most part a casual raiding guild comprised mainly of experienced adult wow players. Out site displays somewhat accurately our guild progression, raiding schedule and loot policies are outlined in painful detail in our guild forums. If you are a member of ottomen then please register for the guild site and verify your account. The verification code can be found in the guild info tab in game. There is a bunch that cannot be viewed unless you register so please take 2 minutes to register for the site so you have full access. Also please take a couple minutes to read through the guild policies below

General Policies

First off it goes without saying that wow is a game and everyone (most everyone) has a life outside the game and RL should always takes priority. We understand that and you will never be penalized for attending to RL issues, however we do ask that you be courteous to your fellow guildies at the same time. (Please seen raiding policies below)

If you like ottomen and would like to invite a friend please talk to an officer and ask if they can get an invite. The more the merrier providing that they aren’t asshats, asshats need not apply as your stay will be short. We do ask that mains only join the guild, your alts are welcome providing you main joins as well.

As stated ottomen is a somewhat “mature” raiding guild and we ask that all of our member conduct themselves in a “mature” fashion at all times in game and on vent. You are wearing our tag above your head and like that it to carry some respect among others in game.

Guild interaction is required and the best way to interact with the guild is via vent. We'd like all guildies to make an attempt to join vent when they can and not just on raiding nights. A bunch of spur of the moment events occur on vent and if your not there then its very likely you won't be invited. Most daily heroic grouping and other events start on vent so please try and join us when you can.

Please refrain from spamming chat (guild, trade or otherwise) and try not to get caught up feeding the “trolls” in trade. These guys are typically just seeking attention and they are the main reason you were given an ignore list, use it.

Please refrain from mooching off your guildies or other players in the game. The members of ottomen are very helpful however there are lines that can be crossed. Attempting to solicit GOLD from your fellow guildies is crossing that line.

We have all professions covered by our guildies and if you need something then feel free to ask and if someone is on that can make what you’re looking for then they are typically more than happy to assist. We only ask that you get your own mats. If the mats (within reason) are in the guild bank then you’re welcome to them. Tipping for professions within guild are not required, there are many others in game to make gold off of.

Be respectful of your fellow guildies, being deliberately mean or degrading to a guildie might land you a gkick.

Being disrespectful to an Officer or Raid Leader will almost always land you a gkick

Ninjaing loot in any raid or instance, guild based or pug is not tolerated and will certainly land you a gkick!

Ranks and Gbank Policies

The guild bank is there for our use. If you see something that you need feel free to use it, gbank tips are not required but welcome. If you need something from a tab that you don’t yet have access to then feel free to ask an officer and someone will likely be happy to assist you in getting it. Taking items from the guild bank to put in the AH will almost always result in a gkick so don’t do it.

Ranks

Initiate: everyone will join ottomen as an initiate.

Member: You will be eligible for a promotion to Member after 30 days participating in the guild

Veteran: You will be eligible for a promotion to Veteran after 4-6 Months participating in the guild

Officers/Raid Leaders: Officers and Raid Leaders are via nomination and are heavily based on guild participation. There are no set requirements or timeframes to become an officer. So just because you've been in the guild along time does not mean you will become an officer. If you feel that you deserve to be an officer and it hasn't happened yet, do not express your feelings with an ultimatum such as "If I don't get promoted to officer I will leave the guild". You will be shown where the door is.

With the exception of initiate and veteran all ranks have similar ranks for alts, mains go in the main rank and alts go in the alt rank, pretty simple.

The rank system is a guideline and nothing is set in stone, we try and keep up on when people joined but if we forget you don’t take offense please remind us if you are entitled to a promotion.

Please use the guild notes for your toons and identify your real name, main or alt also your professions to help other know who you are. (ex. Fred’s Main, 450alch/Herbs)

Character Knowledge / Gear

WoW is a game, and as with any game, some people are better than others at certain things. There are many different roles in game; Tanking, Healing, DPS and PvP. Alot of us are familiar with most classes. If during a raid someone makes a comment or suggestion to you about your rotation or abilities, don't get offended. It's constructive criticism. If one person in the raid is doing something wrong, the whole raid can suffer. If you have questions about your class or talent points or even a rotation, ask someone. If you want to raid then you need to know your toon inside and out, including proper gems and enchants. We are always willing to help those that wish to help themselves. If someone makes a suggestion to you about your rotation or gear, they are only trying to help you out. If we try to help and you ignore it, your participation in raids could be reduced.

Raiding and PvP/Battlegrounds are 2 totally different areas. If you plan to raid, try to not be wearing more than 3 pieces of PvP gear.

Raiding Policies

Raids are scheduled by Raid Leaders or Officers via the in game calendars and we urge that you signup when you think you can make it. Please refrain from posting guild related events on the in game calendar; event scheduling is reserved for officers and raid leaders. If everyone could schedule guild events there would be utter chaos on the calendar, if you have something that you would like on the calendar please talk to and officer and they will try to accommodate your request. We also ask that you make every attempt to let an officer know if you can’t make a raid that you signed up for as opposed to just not showing. If you sign up for a raid and become a no show your attendance for the next raid may be jeopardized. This has become a huge problem recently and we need to try and minimize it if at all possible. As stated earlier we understand that RL issues arise and plans change but do your best to let an officer or raid leader know if you can’t make it, an in game mail is acceptable if no one else is online and that person is also scheduled for the same raid.

We normally start grouping at 8:30 p.m. server time for all raids. So if your signed up please be on whatever toon you are taking to the raid. Be ready to raid on time; have flasks, gems, enchants, food, reagents, repair. The faster we can group and start pulling, the more bosses we can get down. If you have never been in the current raid, I highly suggest visiting www.tankspot.com or www.learn2playwow.com. They have alot of helpful videos that will show you all they strategies for each boss. Another significant issue we're been having is guildies pugging 10 man content during the week and not be availalbe to run a scheduled raid with the guild. Please refrain from pugging any 10 man content during the week especially if its on the calendar for that week. Anything not on the calendar after Saturday is free game to pug.

Vent is required for all raids regardless of if you know the fights.

Download and install the "required addons" listed in the addons section of the site

Some raids have gear or DPS requirements so please read the notes on the raid before you sign up and make sure you meet those requirements. This is not an attempt to exclude you however some raids are difficult and by nature have a minimum per person DPS requirement in order to be successful, if you’re not doing your part in the raid everyone suffers and no one has fun.

For all intents and purposes Loot Policies one Loot per boss /roll for main spec followed by /roll offspec. There’s a detailed discussion on loot policies regarding alts etc in the guild forums. Please take some time to read this thread prior to raiding so that you understand it in detail and there are no hurt feelings. We also ask that you “do the right thing” and if the item you’re rolling on is not a substantial upgrade for you but is for another guildy then let them have it. The faster we get our guildies geared the better it will be for everyone.

If you have an Alt that you want to bring to a raid, we prefer that Alt be in the guild. We are not in the business of gearing up your Alts when they are associated with other guilds.

PROGRESSION

A while back we established our core 10 man progression team. All agreed on certain nights / times to raid. Since doing so, we still seem to have issues with attendance. If this continues, we will re-evaluate the participants in the progression team and replace those that continue to be "no shows". If your schedule has changed and you cannot make the prescribed raid nights, let someone know and we can try  to accomodate. I also understand some members frustrations at only seeing the first 6 bosses in ICC 10. We can try to satisfy everyones raiding needs, but at the end of the day we cannot please everyone. With the progression team running 2 nights per week, a 25 ICC on Saturday and Sunday, as well as VOA and the weekly raid, we are raiding 5-6 nights per week. That is alot of raiding and to be honest, raiding that many nights per week can be taxing to say the least. We try to do alt runs when we can to satisfy the masses, but if that is not enough, our apologies. There is only so much time in a week. Once we down the Lich King we can start mixing up the participants to allow others to down him. And on top of all that, Ruby Sanctum is now upon us adding to the current raid line up.

If there are comments questions or concerns about any of the above policies please let Kizs know before it becomes a problem
